Sedat Onat
January 1st 2022 - Red Square & Tverskaya & Arbat
Updated: Jan 3, 2022
On this very first day of the new year, I wanted to go out and take some photos. It was a bit warmer than yesterday. I went out from home almost at 5 o'clock. Instead of taking the metro, I came with a taxi to not be tired.
As soon as I was around Red Square, I took a starter photo.
I asked a woman for a photo, but she did not allow me. She had an excellent red coat. It was a good color harmony, but I could not.

----------
As I walked into Red square, I saw this family. Although there was another girl next to them, she was far from them, so I did not include her in the photo.

----------
Then I saw this Santa. He was walking in front of me while holding a stick in his hand. I wanted to make a color harmony which I think I could.

----------
Entering the square, I saw this figure on the right side. Its colors and figures were like Squid Game. Because there was an intense crowd, I had to take a bunch of photos. This is one of them.

----------
In the Red Square, they prepared a big skating rink. So I thought I could take some panning photo which is my love.
Panning photos require intensive experience. The subject's distance and speed change everything. Also, you have to have a steady hand against vibration.
I saw this child wearing a spiderman costume. I had to wait for a few rounds to take a good shot. Eventually, this was one of them.

----------
This Mans's beard and hat were like Santa and grabbed my attention. I had to try to take a good photo. Eventually, after several shots, I took this one. I loved his focused glance.

----------
This couple was having an enormous joy of skating. They were the most cheerful among the others. Although the picture is not sharp, it expresses emotion.

----------
This boy was skating and wawing to all who records the crowd. After looking at the photos, I saw that we had eye contact. He was having a big fun :)

----------
After some panning tries, I wanted to take some steady shots. But after a while, I changed my mind and continued on panning. Because I did not have the photo that I needed. Sony A7iii has a very slow system, which always makes you angry. Even changing the aperture or shutter setting 1-2 stops takes seconds. As soon as I saw them, I wanted to take a steady shot, but I could not make it. I had to make the settings at least 5-6 seconds beforehand. The only reason I would change the body would be this one. In contrast to Mirrorless cameras, DSLR's don't have much lag duration.

----------
After some long shots on the skating rink, I decided to take a tour around the red square. And saw this frame. Colors, crowd, and the St. Basilica Cathedral formed a great view.

----------
When I saw this girl, I wanted to ask her for a photo, but then I saw that her friend was taking a photo of her. People mostly oppose a photo when they already taking one. So I took this photo of her from far and left.

----------
This Red Apple was interesting to me. In Turkey, Red Apple has a special meaning for us. So I wanted to take this photo. If there was not the skating rink, I would take this photo against the St. Basilica Cathedral.

----------
This chairoplane was next to the skating rink. I did not know how to photograph it. So I took many different shots. I wanted to share this one but because this was my first try.

----------
This Guy was walking in Red Square with his family. The color of his dress and the unique look attracted me, so I asked him for a photo. He did not hesitate, and immediately I started taking photos. Because my camera was very slow, I had to ask him to wait a second many times. The light from behind was bothersome. I had to make an optimum setting to decrease noise with the proper exposure. He was not happy about waiting, but I had to. After getting the results, he shared his contact information, and I thanked him and left.

----------
This sweet lady was standing near Teatralnaya Metro with her child. At first, I was hesitant, but then I decided to ask her for a photo, and she accepted. I took some photos. She was giving me a good pose and at the same time watching her child. After taking her contact details, I thanked her and left.

----------
This Christmas tree on Tverskaya street was very colorful. I wanted to take a photo, but my telezoom lens was very long for it. So I thought maybe some perspective shots may give me good results. After some exploration, I found this angle. The harmony of colors and the shining tree gave me a good result.

----------
The weather was -10 in Moscow and this was cold for most of the people, even for Russians. When I saw this girl wearing that much short I could not believe my eyes. She was almost comfortable with the cold. Believe me, I still feel that cold when I see this photo.

----------
Human belongings are always grabbing my eyes. They give you an immense imagination of their history. When I saw these boots in this cold weather, I thought of many things. Maybe the homeless will see these and will be more than grateful to God. Mey the God forbid them.

----------
Smolensky Passage was reconstructed a while ago. The new-look grabbed my eyes. As if it was a Black & White photo. I loved the shapes, colors, and lights on them. I wonder whether in the morning it would look better than night.

----------
This couple was walking as if on a film set. Their style and manner grabbed my eyes. I wish the roses to be open but anyway, their black-and-white colors and the Russian Flag formed a good photo.

----------
The form that these lights made grabbed my eyes. In addition, this young Guy was coming towards me, and I wanted to take a photo. But as usual, my camera could not catch my speed, and I had to wait for a little. Thank God he was far from me so I could take this photo.

----------
Because they give a different look, I love reflections. When I saw this reflection in a puddle, I kneeled down but the perspective of my lens was very limited, and I only could take this much reflection. Over time, my eyes will be trained. Thus I will take better reflection photos with my telephoto lens.

----------
This girl was standing on Arbat street while reading something on her phone. Her scarf was like a keffiyeh. I felt something and took the photo. Even now, I cannot name it, but I liked this photo for some reason.

----------
Elvis is among the most respected singers in the world. His unique style and voice are unforgettable. On Arbat street, a cafe put his mannequin in front of the door. The lights behind it and the colors grabbed my eyes.

----------
In Moscow, the Municipality made many light arches like this one. People love them and take many photos under them. When I saw it, I wanted to take a photo with my lens. I liked the reflection of lights on the lens.

----------
Sometimes I use my smartphone to take some unique shots. I took this photo looking upside under a light-figure. I had to take almost 50+ photos to have a proper symmetrical image. Even I could not get the result I need I was tired, and the result was ok for me.

----------
The night was long and tiring. I was out more than 5 hours and was very tired. The time was late, so it was time to return home. I had a good fun this night...
